Adamawa State Governor Signs ASITDA Bill, Partners with NCC to Accelerate Digital Transformation

Today marked a significant milestone for Adamawa State’s digital future as Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri welcomed the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to Adamawa and officially signed the Adamawa State Information Technology Development Agency (ASITDA) Bill. This critical legislation is a central component of the Adamawa 2.0 strategy, aimed at accelerating the state’s transformation into a tech-driven and digitally inclusive region.

The ASITDA Bill sets the framework for implementing various digital initiatives focused on enhancing e-governance, building robust ICT infrastructure, advancing digital skills training, and improving the overall business environment in Adamawa State. Through this, Governor Fintiri aims to foster a connected, innovative, and thriving economy where technology empowers citizens and drives development.

The state’s partnership with NCC opens doors to numerous initiatives, including broadband expansion, digital parks, and ICT resource centers that will bring high-speed internet, training facilities, and technological resources to even the most remote communities. These projects are designed to improve connectivity and create educational, entrepreneurial, and employment opportunities for the people of Adamawa.

The signing of the ASITDA Bill and Governor Fintiri’s recent approval of a Zero Right of Way (RoW) policy have positioned Adamawa State as a hub for digital infrastructure investment. Inspired by the Zero RoW policy, Broadband Connectivity Network (BCN) has initiated plans to roll out fiber optic infrastructure across Adamawa State. BCN, known for enhancing digital connectivity in Nigeria, will establish a broadband network that extends high-speed internet access to businesses, households, and institutions across the state.

During the NCC Executive Vice Chairman’s visit, Governor Fintiri also visited the site for the launch of the Broadband Connectivity Network Fiber Rollout, an ambitious project expected to expand broadband infrastructure across Adamawa. This project will lay the groundwork for faster internet speeds, greater digital access, and increased online business activities. Governor Fintiri expressed optimism about the transformative potential of the fiber network, emphasizing that its completion will enhance digital service delivery, boost innovation, and attract investments to the state.

Governor Fintiri highlighted the state’s unwavering commitment to fostering a business-friendly climate as part of Adamawa 2.0, noting that with the NCC’s support, Adamawa can meet the growing demand for tech-enabled services and infrastructure that benefit businesses, schools, and government institutions. “With the ASITDA Bill now signed, we are building a digital Adamawa that creates opportunities and supports growth for every citizen,” he stated.

Beyond infrastructure, Adamawa’s digital transformation strategy places a strong emphasis on human capital development. Through ASITDA, the state aims to implement digital skills training programs that equip youth with job-ready skills in areas such as software development, data analytics, and e-commerce. These programs are expected to boost employability, foster innovation, and prepare a generation of tech-savvy leaders capable of driving the state’s growth forward.

Officials and stakeholders at the signing event lauded Governor Fintiri’s forward-thinking vision, recognizing that the Adamawa 2.0 strategy represents a bold commitment to digital transformation that will bring long-term benefits. By integrating technology into public services, fostering digital inclusion, and supporting digital entrepreneurship, the Adamawa government is positioning itself as a national leader in the digital economy.

Governor Fintiri’s partnership with NCC and the signing of the ASITDA Bill symbolize a promising future for Adamawa State. With a roadmap now in place, the state is on course to becoming a model of digital innovation and inclusive growth for Nigeria and beyond.
